Leavers Support Services

Red Frogs WA

Red Frogs provides aroundtheclock support to young people during Leavers and is a key wellbeing partner within the Leavers WA Strategy. Their volunteers work across accommodation sites, community spaces and The Zone to help young people stay safe, connected and supported.

What Red Frogs Provides

  • A 24hour hotline (1300 557 123) offering nonurgent assistance, advice and support.
  • Trained volunteer teams who provide walkhome assistance, safespace support and general wellbeing checks.
  • Peer support that helps young people manage situations involving alcohol or other substances, stress, conflict or feeling unsafe.
  • Outreach at accommodation venues and in public spaces to help keep gatherings safe and reduce risks.
  • Connection and assistance for anyone feeling overwhelmed, lonely, unwell or unsure what to do next.
  • Provides the famous Allens Red Frogs

WAAC (Sexual Health and Harm Reduction Support)

WAAC has supported Leavers WA for over 20 years. Their focus is on sexual health, alcohol and other drug harm reduction and inclusive support for young people.

What WAAC Provides

  • Education and guidance to help Leavers reduce risk around sexual activity, alcohol and other drugs.
  • Advocacy and support for LGBTQIA+ young people throughout the week.
  • A day and night volunteer team of around 30 trained workers in sexual health, youth work and harm reduction.
  • The Chill Out Tent inside The Zone where Leavers can relax, chat, watch a movie and take a break in a safe environment. Volunteers wear red shirts and are easy to identify.

Royal Life Saving WA (Beach and Water Safety)

Royal Life Saving Society WA coordinates BeachFest at Meelup Beach and provides vital water safety education during Leavers.

Key Messages for Leavers and Parents

  • Be a Mermate: look out for your mates in and around the water.
  • Swimming at night or while under the influence is unsafe and should be avoided.
  • Call 000 if you are experiencing a serious medical emergency.
