Volunteer for Leavers

MENTAL HEALTH COMISSION WA
MHC does not offer volunteers directly to Leavers, however, they do host general volunteers for embedding in other organisation and supports the Leavers health surveillance team.
The Mental Health Commission is working to establish mental health, alcohol and other drug systems that meet the needs of Western Australia's population and deliver quality outcomes for individuals and their families. Our mission is to be a respected leader in commissioning, providing and partnering in the delivery of:
- Prevention, promotion and early intervention programs
- Treatment, services and supports
- Research, policy and system improvements

RED FROGS
At Leavers Week, Red Frogs volunteers are present wherever leavers congregate as a recognised and trusted source of support for when things go wrong.
Red Frogs Australia is a volunteer based organisation who’ve made it their mission to provide a positive peer presence in alcohol-fuelled environments where young people gather; educate young people on safe partying behaviours; and promote alcohol-free and/or diversionary activities that engage young people in these environments.
You’ll find their friendly faces and giant bags of Allens’ Red Frogs Alive: visiting larger accommodation venues (resorts, caravan parks etc); on the beaches; answering calls on the Red Frog Hotline – 1300 557 123; and staffing The Zone.

WAAC
WAAC'S role at Leavers is to provide peer-support for leavers.
Built on the harm minimisation framework, predominantly working within the area of harm reduction, WAAC's area of focus is topics around sexual health, relationships and drug and alcohol use and safe consumption. WAAC has an outreach presence during both the day and night throughout the week of Leavers, with the intent of being accessible and present for young people.
WAAC is also the organisation outwardly supporting and promoting the LGBTQIA+ community at Leavers.
During the day, WAAC volunteers provide outreach, information, education, referral and harm reduction activities about safe sex, sexual health and safe alcohol and drug use. At night, WAAC provide a safe, inclusive and supportive space at the Chill Out tent in the Entertainment Zone. This is in line with WAAC's mission of minimising the impact and transmission of HIV, STI's and other blood-borne viruses.
