Parents
Leavers is a time of freedom for your son or daughter. Often, it’s the first time they will be away without your supervision.
While you might be thrilled that your son or daughter has reached a major milestone in their life, Leavers can cause some level of anxiety for some parents and guardians.
The State Government is committed to improving the safety and enjoyment of Leavers. Parents and guardians are encouraged to play a major role in preparing their son or daughter for Leavers.
Spending time with your son or daughter discussing their plans before they go, and offering your assistance while they are away, will reduce your anxiety and help ensure they have a safe and enjoyable time.
Here are some things to discuss with your son or daughter before they celebrate Leavers. Remember to respect your son or daughter as a young adult, and their desire to make choices and maintain privacy.
